Every year, Santa Fe plays host to the Wine & Chile Fiesta, an event that lasts for five days and celebrates the best of wine and food that can be found in both the local area and the country. No less than 90 wineries will be attending this year’s event in addition to around 75 restaurants. Those who want to attend will be able to take part in cooking demonstrations, wine tastings, seminars, workshops, luncheons and dinner. The event runs from September 24th-28th this year and attendees come here from all over the world.
So what types of events could you be taking part in if you attend? With many different workshops and seminars available we can only give you a couple of examples, but why not consider the ‘Secrets of the Somms: Blind Tasting of Red Wines’? This is where you can get expert input from top sommeliers to guide you through a blind tasting of eight red wines. They will help you to detect the region of origin and the vintage during the workshop, unleashing skills you never knew you had!
The finale of the weekend is the Grand Tasting, where all participants provide samples of their food and wine for people to try. This will be held at the Santa Fe Opera and there will be shuttles provided between the Opera and the local Information Office as well as valet parking.
One of the most popular aspects of the event are the tours that can be taken. The winery tours always attract plenty of attention but there is also a tour of the Allan Hauser Sculpture Garden. Buses are provided to get you there and back. For the cooking demonstrations you only need to make your way to the Santa Fe School of Cooking. These also fill up very quickly, so reserve your place as soon as you can.
However, it is not just about the opportunity to awaken your taste buds. There are events which raise money for community events, so local people can attend cooking classes. There is also a Cooking with Kids scheme that is sponsored through the event. Many of the events taking place are ticket only so if you want to see a specific demonstration or seminar then you need to reserve your ticket as soon as possible. There will be a hospitality desk located in Santa Fe from September 22nd and it should be noted that the events are only open to those aged 21 and over.
To get more information on tickets and events, check out the official website for the event. Don’t forget, when you reserve your event tickets you need to reserve your accommodations also. Rooms are scarce when events like this are held in Santa Fe and we would like to see as many of you as possible at our Santa Fe bed & breakfast!
