June in Santa Fe is a very special time – it’s the start of the summer season, just before the busiest months of the year, July and August! It’s a great time to plan a visit as the weather is beautiful, many city tours are in full throttle, and there are a whole host of fantastic events!
Why not consider the ‘First Friday Art Walk’? For much of the year the first Friday of the month is an opportunity to take a guided walk through a variety of arts venues in the city. You can explore the Downtown area of Santa Fe and stop in at some of the top galleries and museums. The venues on the tour include the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the New Mexico Museum of Art, the New Mexico History Museum and the Palace of the Governors. For this tour the galleries stay open until 7.30pm while the museums are open until 7pm. If you can’t make it in June don’t worry the tours run through October.
Santa Fe is the home of the Herb & Lavender Fair and this year it’s taking place on June 20th and 21st. On both days it’s running from 10 am to 4 pm and it’s held at El Rancho de las Golondrinas. Attendees can enjoy garden tours and the opportunity to buy herbal products from a variety of vendors. If you want to learn more about growing herbs you can attend one of the lectures or workshops on how to do this successfully. This is a great event for all ages, kids under 12 are free and tickets for adults cost $8. For more information check out the official website of the ranch here.
Another event that is held on a monthly basis is the Delgado House walkthrough, one of Santa Fe’s top historic houses! The tour is run by Lacuna galleries and it takes place on the first Monday of every month. This is one of the most important historic houses in Santa Fe and the tour offers a peak inside life during the 1800s. Find out more about these tours at the official website.
In addition to these events you can also take advantage of other city tours, sporting events and musical performances at a variety of locations around Santa Fe. If you decide to come visit our fantastic city we hope you’ll choose to stay at our Santa Fe bed & breakfast located just walking distance to the Plaza.
